Itinerary
Early Morning:Start your adventure with a scenic drive from Zanzibar to Mikumi National Park. You will be picked up from your Zanzibar hotel early in the morning, and enjoy a comfortable drive across the scenic landscapes of Tanzania, passing through coastal towns and vibrant rural communities. The journey takes about 6-7 hours, so be prepared for a leisurely and scenic road trip. Afternoon Arrival at Mikumi:Upon arrival at Mikumi National Park, check into your lodge or campsite and enjoy a delicious lunch. Take a brief rest before your exciting afternoon game drive. Afternoon Game Drive:After lunch, head into Mikumi National Park for your first game drive. This park, known for its rich wildlife and scenic landscapes, is home to the "Mikumi Big Five," including elephants, lions, buffaloes, leopards, and rhinos. You’ll also spot giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and various species of birds. Evening:Return to your lodge or campsite in the evening for a relaxing dinner, recounting the day's wildlife encounters, and rest for the night.
Morning Game Drive:After an early breakfast, head out for another game drive in Mikumi National Park. This early morning session is perfect for spotting wildlife when animals are most active. The park is famous for its open landscapes and large herds of elephants, as well as sightings of lions, leopards, and other fascinating wildlife. Midday Break:Stop for a light picnic or lunch in the park, surrounded by nature, before continuing your exploration of Mikumi’s diverse ecosystems. Depending on the season, you might even witness some incredible birdwatching opportunities, as the park is home to over 400 species of birds. Afternoon Game Drive & Return Journey:After lunch, embark on your final game drive, taking in the last sights of this beautiful national park.
